Entire length of ROughwood Lane
Reported in the Road surface category anonymously at 16:53, Thu 24 May 2018
Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later
The lane is becoming increasingly dangerous and overused due, I suspect, to Satnavs increasingly sending people down (especially when the M25 is busy). The lane gets totally gridlocked almost daily, with drivers getting hostile and occasionally violent, and cars and vans (and occasionally lorries) damaging residents fences and gates. There is also the obvious danger of emergency vehicles not being able to access if required, but it's also highly inconvenient for residents who are often effectively trapped in their own homes. Conversely when the road is actually quite, cars generally travel at speeds inappropriate to the conditions, within inches of people and properties - a serious accident waiting to happen. I believe there is a way you can inform satnav companies not to use this road? Alternatively, some sort of Traffic Regulation Order needs to be investigated. I am quite happy to coordinate residents in the lane (Who are all highly concerned) if that would help?

I received your response, and have replied by email.
"Many thanks for your response - makes complete sense, and I totally understand it’s really difficult to get a solution for traffic calming, and there have to be priorities.
The one thing you don’t mention is the sat nav issues, Which could be alot easier to fix. As I understand it, the request to stop traffic being routed down a road has to come from the Transport Authority?
I realise we would have to prove that this is a necessity, but if you could let me know the process, I’m happy to coordinate it - it is becoming an increasing necessity. In the last 3 days alone, we have effectively been prisoners in our own homes for well over 2 hours on 2 separate occasions - and on one of them an ambulance attending an emergency was stuck, causing much stress. Residents had to direct traffic to eventually get it though - and I’m sure you’d agree this isn’t ideal. The situation is getting worse by the week.
So if you could let me know the process regarding sat navs that would be very much appreciated."
