Lower Road cycle/path Ambulance station to Bell Pub

Reported in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 09:55, Fri 1 June 2018

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 5 minutes later

Lots of road debris on path causing children cycling to/from school or leisure to swerve close to traffic, causing punctures, bumps and lumps. Also hedge growing across pathway in several places and obscuring road signs as well as impeding pedestrian and cyclists space and forcing close to traffic.

  • Hi, thank you for the feedback. For future reference can you advise who the ‘relevant authority/team’ are? When I initially contacted the Parish Council they directed me to yourselves.

    Regards

  • Getting worse, no sign of fix. Who should be contacted?

  • Come on BCC you want people to cycle and walk but there is no point in providing a cycle path if no-one can use it because its so overgrown with nettles. Who is this mystery authority that is responsible for it?

  • Hi, I have spent a number of weeks trying to chase this issue up. The hedge and stinging nettles are still growing across the path/cycleway, only stunted by the hot weather. I have contacted the Parish Council who advise to contact Bucks County Council (here), Then spoke to Aylesbury Town Council, who advise they can only address issues in the 30mph zones. They too thought Bucks County Council would be responsible for dealing with the 40mph zone area. I understand dependent on the land adoption and ownership, the landowner may be responsible, but surely this should be chased up by the relevant authority? The land in the affected area is a mix of developer (Crest Nicholson), private and unknown ownership, but in the past we have seen standard council hedge trimmers keeping the path/cycleway clear??? What is happening, who are the mystery responsible party? Who knows, this may actually get resolved by the end of the summer!!!

  • Progress. 2/3 of overgrown stretch of cycle/pedestrian path has now been trimmed back a bit to clear road signage and bus stop view. Thank you to whoever eventually sorted that. Still got middle 1/3 overgrown into pathway, not clear why this bit not done at same time??? Can anyone advise who actually sorted some of this out, would save a lot of hassle if we can report to the correct people from the outset.

  • Most of hedged now cut back, still a few tree/hedge overhangs, but can at least cycle on the cycle path.
