Phasing of lights result in long delays where traffic blocks crossing traffic
In recent years, the delay to enter Handy Cross roundabout from Wycombe Road have become worse. It is not unknown for the lights to go green and no vehicle to be able to join the junction and progress due to vehicles blocking their path. This is particularly frustrating for users when it stops people crossing a lane and going in a different direction. This is not directly the fault of the users blocking but is as a consequence of the traffic light phasing allowing too many vehicles into that area before allowing the traffic light for Wycombe road to go green. The chain reaction is that people do not use the lanes on Wycombe Road appropriately or consistently meaning there is a greater chance of a road traffic collision. Public transport use the wrong lane as otherwise they will be delayed too long. There have been previous reports without obvious publicly visible explanation or update. 21st March 2015 – Light phasing failing (https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 609072) 14th March 2016 – Traffic light phasing needs to be adjusted at Handy Cross roundabout (https://fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk/ report/ 787398)
There has also been reports on Facebook over the years including damage to cars.
