Opposite Coniston, Church Rd, Lane End

Reported in the Trees category by Dr Nigel Bacon at 17:49, Mon 23 July 2018

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

Large branch fallen from mature oak tree blocking all the road. Now safe, pulled to roadside by neighbours. Other large branches also noted on ground, presumably fallen previously. Trees require safety check and fallen branch requires removal.

  • This issue is far from resolved, despite you "closing" the case. No site visit by the Council has been made. The large, fallen tree branch remains by the side of the road and may cause a potential hazard. The owners of the land had already been informed but no remedial action has been taken. Had it not been for the action of neighbours and a passing motorist, the branch would still be in the road. Is it the Council's responsibility to inspect the trees for further possible, dangerous branch falls or does this lie with the landowners? Can they be forced to perform a safety check under your jouristiction?

There is now a further large branch on the same tree which has partly separated from the main trunk. It is in imminent danger of falling and a potential, significant hazard to pedestrians and other road users. (As defined in the picture by the dead leaves)
