I hit this pothole today and punctured my left passenger side car tyre. The tyre deflated immediately so I had to stop. I returned to the area to see what caused the damage and found the pothole in the photographs. It looks like previous work has degraded over a long period of time to the point where there are now deep and sharp edges on both sides of the repair. I suspect it was the edge facing back up towards the direction of travel that caused my tyre to burst.
