Timings on exit from Peatey Court far too long now
Reported in the Traffic lights & crossings problems with timings category anonymously at 13:19, Fri 19 October 2018
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1441682.
The traffic lights at the exit of Peatey Court junction with Gordon Road have recently altered so that the traffic exiting have to wait several minutes before it changes to Green even without any other traffic or pedestrians involved. This seems to have recently changed following some gas works which took place approximately 7-10 days ago.

This remains a problem after three working weeks. During rush hour traffic is backed up all the way down to the A40 London road causing delays. The timing of the traffic lights appears to now favour traffic from Princes Gate which has only a fraction of the traffic volume of the Gordon Rd/Bowerdean Rd through traffic. Even at 6.30am a queue of five cars or more can be found waiting several minutes at those lights as they attempt to pass from Bowerdean Rd to Gordon Rd on the commute to the A40. The wait reveals that no traffic whatsoever comes from Princes Gate nor from the A40 going in the opposite direction. The timing is now completely unsuitable for that junction. It appears to have been reset to a default timing after recent roadworks.

I note there have been several reports in relation to this issue. I am shift worker who exits Princes Gate/Peatey Court on to Gordon Road at various times including weekends and very early in the morning. Following the recent road works in October it appears that the traffic lights have reverted to a ‘standard’ pattern which means that often cars are waiting for a long time for the lights to change even when no other cars are waiting at or approaching the junction. Before the roadworks the lights effectively picked up the presence of vehicles via sensors and managed the flow of traffic accordingly.

98 % of the time when I drive towards London Rd on Gordon Road the lights are on red, how can this be as its the primary route?. I sat there for 1 minute 30 seconds the other day waiting for them to go green, and that was with no activation by pedestrians. Also drivers have started jumping the lights in frustration.
