The angle of the pavement slope is far too steep and dangerous, especially when there is frost on the ground. The road gutter has also sunk and this results in a major puddle whenever it rains. So what should be designed to assist the less fit and those with wheel/ push chairs is dangerous - unless you can walk like a mountain goat and dont mind wading through water !

This problem has gotten worse. At night you can hear it most when there’s not much else going on but when a car wheel goes over it, it makes a very loud clanking sound. Please come and look at this issue again. Drive your own vehicle over it to see the problem. In that open space of the roundabout the sound travels well

This is still rattling and the road is breaking up around it. This needs resolving.

The noise from this manhole cover is intrusive and can be heard from the rear of our house every 5-10 seconds during the day and less often but more intrusively at night. The road surface is breaking up around the manhole cover and the sound must indicate a significant impact each time a car drives over the cover. If not fixed soon I envisage the cover collapsing and, therefore, a threat of accident or injury. I should also like to highlight the camber of the pavement again on the corner opposite the chapel as this must be a hazard to wheelchair and push chair users and elderly walkers. The raised kerb stones around the corner are a tripping hazard.

An elderly man tripped on this camber last week I think he got some nasty facial injuries.

Could I please meet on-site with whoever inspects the defects on the manhole and the kerb so that I can explain 1. volume and the constant aggravation of the noise 2. the total impracticality of the pavement slope which forces the infirm to walk on the road for fear of losing their balance on the slope? Clearly they are either looking in the wrong place or simply don't understand the issues. Alternatively, please get these issues sorted out immediately before there is a serious accident.

I note there has been no further comment from the Council on this since *mid March*. The "volume and constant aggravation" continues and the hazard of the pavements and raised kerbs has already caused a recent accident. Please give us an update.

Still no action ! Before I escalate the issues relating to the worsening manhole cover noise and the dangerous slope on the pavement with my WDC Councillor, could you please supply a written and detailed copy of the criteria used to evaluate the need to rectify these issues and a copy of your Highway Safety Inspection Policy. The manhole noise is totally unacceptable and will eventually break ( as has already happened with another cover locally which has been replaced). There has already been a fall on the pavement slope so does somebody have to be seriously injured before you take any action? In both cases, the potential compensation costs way exceed the cost of doing the work so please get the work done immediately before its too late !

The break-up of the road surface around the manhole cover is now developing into quite a large fist sized hole and the road surface is breaking up further around it. I have had to move out of the front bedroom of my house as the noise regularly robs me of sleep.

Further to my recent request, please supply a written and detailed copy of the criteria used to evaluate the need to rectify these issues and a copy of your Highway Safety Inspection Policy without further delay. The noise being made by vehicles crossing the loose manhole is now intolerable...I cannot sit in my garden or open a window at 3a Chapel Road as a consequence. Additionally, the sloped pavement that I have reported previously is an another accident waiting to happen. One person has already slipped and hurt themselves, so how many more accidents before you respond? Having ignored my earlier requests to meet your inspector on site or provide me with information, can we please see some action this week?
