Worn out zig zags are causing a danger and also a parking problem

Reported in the Road lines / road markings category anonymously at 16:05, Sat 16 March 2019

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

This is now the 3rd report of this issue in as many months. Today parking opposite the PO was at its worse, with maybe four cars parked almost up to the zebra crossing parked over the now almost invisible zig zag lines. The danger was highlighted when an elderly pedestrian was crossing from the nearby sheltered home and she crossed the crossing but due to the parked cars neither she nor a car driver saw each other. The car just about stopped and she almost fell backwards trying to avoid it. On two occassions you have stated that it is not a problem and no action is required. However as can be seen by the photos and the unfortunate incident I witnessed this morning there IS an issue. Please recognise the problem and repair the issue before someone gets hurt due to the illegal parking and restricted view it causes on the crossing!

  • Could you please advise me why these do not require re-painting and are considered ok. As Thames Valley Police advise that these cannot be enforced as they are barely visible.
