Opposite No.6 Main Raid, Upper Winchendon

Reported in the Road surface category anonymously at 21:21, Mon 27 May 2019

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

There is a drain cover in the S.W bound carriageway which appears to be seated in its drain the wrong way around. The slots in the drain go in line with the direction of travel of the traffic. For road cyclists this is very dangerous. The slots in the drain cover are wide enough for a road cyclist's wheels to drop into the drain causing an accident. The drain is close to the near side the carriageway, just in the line that cyclists will ride. This is dangerous for cyclists. If the slots were to go the other way, this would not be an issue for cyclists. This is the same principle as a cattle grid - you wouldn't have them with the grids running the in the other direction. Many thanks

  • I am disappointed with your decision. Do you agree that this is dangerous for cyclists using road bikes with wheels which would slip into this rain cover?
