Mentmore crossroads

Reported in the Road lines / road markings category anonymously at 11:16, Mon 17 June 2019

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

This crossroads is extremely dangerous. Yesterday there was a collision between an ambulance and a car and this is the latest in a long line of near misses that happen every week. People travelling from wing or mentmore and wanting to go straight on, whether by design or accident, often go straight on at speed without slowing or stopping. This causes a huge risk for those driving along the Leighton road with the right of way. The recent accident highlights the need for changes to be made to this road either a mini roundabout or staggering the junction. Every time I pass this junction I feel in fear of someone running into me. I genuinely consider it to be the most dangerous road in our local area. Please act before someone dies

  • As above I am referring to the accident at Mentmore Crossroads yesterday (16th June). By all accounts this was a nasty incident injuring 5 people. There have always been accidents at this junction purely because people coming/going to Wing and Mentmore do not give way! I think you take your life in your hands driving on the Leighton Road even though you are supposed to have the right of way! I for one have had to brake sharply to avoid a collision because drivers have failed to give way. A mini roundabout could solve all of this, surely at not too much of a cost? From memory at least one person has been killed there some years back and if we were not all extra careful I'm certain there would have been more deaths and serious injuries by now. This a dangerous piece of road and something needs to be done before we have any more catastrophes.
