Mentmore Crossroads
Reported in the Road lines / road markings category anonymously at 13:33, Wed 19 June 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1666929.
I have lived in this area for almost 16 years and the accident on the 16th is the latest in a long line of accidents involving fatalities which have happened over the years. I personally witnessed one last year when an Asda delivery van hit a vehicle at the crossroads at considerable speed. Less than 3 weeks later a friend of mine with his family was hit by a foreign driver which resulted in his car being written off. My wife frequently rides her horses on the roads in this area and in the last 12 months she has personally witnessed 3 different vehicles cross the crossroads at speed without giving way. That fact alone begs the question as to how frequently this is actually happening? Daily or weekly. What is needed is more significant signage and road markings to warn people of the upcoming junction. There are plenty of smiley face signs in villages warning of speed limits so why cannot there be a warning sign which illuminates to warn ALL vehicles of the junction. This is surely an accident blackspot!!
