Temp lights where developers are working
Reported in the Traffic lights problem at temporary roadworks category anonymously at 19:05, Mon 8 July 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 10 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1689083.
Badly timed lights not allowing the main road traffic to flow through as much as normal, especially those coming from the south in the evening. Tailbacks to Arla turnoff which equates to 20 min delay around 6pm.
Why not just turn the lights off and allow us to let New Road traffic in like days before this junction was changed?

I would like to find out what incompetent idiot set these traffic lights, stop start traffic stretches for over 3 miles onto A41, it takes 45 min to get into the town because some half-whit set the lights to let 3 cars at the time instead of copying normal traffic flow from regular lights.

The temporary lights installed at the Holiday Inn junction on the A41 are completely inadequate for the traffic volumes at all times of the day. Tailbacks are miles in each direction. Traffic travelling both ways on the A41 is sitting stationary at red lights much of the time. Whoever approved this scheme needs a polite kick up the wherever.

The light sequencing is poor with only one flow of traffic moving at a time and a pedestrian phase, which means there is traffic queuing in all directions. The sequencing needs to be fixed today. Either return to the sequencing the main traffic lights provided or remove traffic lights and return to the original road layout with no traffic lights. There was no prior warnings relating to this work, with no proposed completion dates.

Can I ask where the prior notice of the roadworks was ? It was my understanding that developers need to post prior notice telling us about the works being carried out with start and finish dates.
This was not carried out.
Also the actual lights and traffic management are not correct. Filter lanes missing, signs not present and the timing is an completely wrong.
Can we find out who authorised these roadworks and what conditions were put on the developer. Because it clear they are not following the approved scheme

Why, just why ? Implement a better system not a worse. Traffic is already bad why make it worse. Use the existing system during rush hour and switch it outside of rush hour.
Are night works an option ?

Is there any update from contractor regarding this?

Following the installation of the temporary traffic lights, the new lane closure had added further delays to the traffic coming out of the town. Due to the queues people are queuing over the junction further back meaning people cannot leave Broughton Lane and Bedgrove areas even at 6:55am. There was no prior warnings of the work and this has caused massive disruption for thousands of people even over the weekend. How long is this lan going to be closed? Have TfB given guidance around the lane closures?
