A41 Aston Clinton Road junction with New Road

Reported in the Traffic lights problem at temporary roadworks category anonymously at 18:29, Tue 9 July 2019

Received by Buckinghamshire County Council moments later

Monday was an inconvenience, to continue into Tuesday onwards is incompetent. From having a dedicated right turn lane and associated signal for traffic leaving Aylesbury to turn right into New Road to it's current temporary arrangement of 3 way lights is complete incompetence. Traffic entering Aylesbury are now held longer at a red signal. If BCC (as the permit for the works say they are responsible) require assistance in choosing the correct traffic management equipment for this junction then please contact me.

  • Whoever has set the temporary lights outside the Holiday Inn has changed the flow of traffic on the A41 from two-way to one-way. There is no logic for this and the result is major delays back onto the dual carriageway. Simply changing the sequence so that traffic can flow both north and south at the same time on the A41 outside Holiday Inn will solve it

  • Sunday morning I abandoned an attempted trip to household waste site due to traffic congestion at the end of Bedgrove caused by temporary traffic lights. The third time in four days I have been caught it really needs some common sense applied to those lights. If we are not to be subjected to weeks of disruption. Please sort it out.

  • The temporary traffics light situation at Holiday Inn A41 is intolerable and asinine. I’m already dreading trying to get to work on time as have no other option but to go that way. How is this disruption to working peoples lives allowed. There has been no work going on whatsoever and residents subjected to this unacceptable inconvenience to appease developers. Why are there no notices there if what the hell is going on ? And for how long and why is it allowed ? Surely they must have a timescale to get it done at such a critical sight like this for traffic People are stuck there for hours. You try getting out of Broughton lane - impossible! The congestion in the area is beyond my comprehension. Who in Gods authorised this chaos I have been Kate to work every day since this started and haven’t actually seen anyone doing anything. Are the developers going to pay my mortgage and feed my kids when I get sacked because of it - unbelievable unbelievable unbelievable. What are you going to do about it ????

  • The temporary traffic lights in the Aston Clinton Road, New Road junction, are intolerable and ridiculously disruptive. I was 40 minutes late picking up my 7 year old tonight and have been late for work more than once and now learn these are to remain until November. Are we supposed to leave work an hour early to accommodate this hold up, or find extended childcare? It really is unacceptable the amount of disruption this is causing. The permanent traffic lights before worked effectively and efficiently allowing traffic to flow well. Why can’t this sand pattern be adopted in the temporary lights and both lanes he open? As we all sit in stationary traffic jams there is no one working on site to fix this problem or speed up the works. I’m at a loss as to how we can continue to endure this chaos until November. PLEASE do something. Thank you.

  • I have now reported this intolerable situation to MP for Aylesbury David Lidington. It is an outrage It took 35 minutes this morning to get out of Broughton lane onto the A41 which was absolutely solid - late again for work Who is responsible for this carnage ? There is absolutely no work going on to rectify - exactly same on way home tonight. This is criminal incompetence in my opinion. Is anyone listening to the residents of Aylesbury?

  • Why is it now a week since these seemingly pointless temporary traffic lights have appeared and nothing has been done? The traffic lights that have been taken down hadn’t even been there that long! I can’t believe that nothing is being done about it - what idiot decided to do this and they could have a least waited until the end of term when traffic will be lighter - utter madness!

  • Traffic lights are off, and it's down to 1 lane, no management at all

  • After a 33min journey that usually takes 7min's, at exactly 09.02 I made it to the temporary lights. Not only were mine were the other 2 on the T junction, no traffic moved in either direction for 3 min's, (as I was traveling south) there were two men on the side of the road (one in High Vis) obviously controlling the lights......eventually they went from red to turned of! all 3 directions of traffic moved at the same time.......Madness!!! May I ask what is being done about this...the firm dealing with this is obviously out of their depth, are you going to wait for an accident before it is reviewed or just continue to ignore your responsibilities.

  • So this morning I’ve passed through this debacle at 1115 - coming out of Aylesbury seems a bit better maybe because of the time but why I why are three lanes still channelling into one - ridiculous and not necessary. Traffic would move much quicker out of the side roads if this was left as 3 lanes Traffic can still filter right for New a Road The bigger issue at 1115 today is traffic coming in to Aylesbury which is backed up to the tip at Colkege road north What is this disasters doing for business in Aylesbury as well as the stress to its residents. What’s really angered me is that there is a man sat in an ‘Amberon’ red van with traffic lights painted on it. He has got his feet on the dashboard and he is on a mobile phone - unbelievable - is this the person who is supposed to be fixing/ controlling things !! When will this someone get a grip of this situation and put ins out of our misery. How hard is it to replicate the perfectly good traffic light system that was new and was here before ? This should NEVER have been allowed to happen 😡

  • Road works have now changed the layout of the junction without warning so that the existing Filter left from new road onto Tring Road is now Give Way and there are no signs! Nearly hit by oncoming traffic from left as unaware of change as I filtered left. This is HIGHLY DANGEROUS! Also, filter right onto New Road is now so short and difficult to cross, that traffic waiting to turn is blocking the Tring Road all the way past the Bierton turn and beyond. This is obsured and someone needs to get control of the Contractors (taylor Wimpey) as there is a complete disregard for safety and lack of thought. There are two months left of this and it is a disgrace.
