About 150m north of the double roundabout on A413 through Chalfont St Giles on 19th September
Reported in the Traffic lights problem at temporary roadworks category anonymously at 15:47, Thu 19 September 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1773622.
The temp traffic lights in this location made a journey of 5-10 minutes from Amersham take 40 minutes this morning between 8.55 and 9.35. I’m sure the lights and the work were necessary, but there was clearly a problem with the interval of the lights - no problem or hold-up going north, but a very bad problem going south, with the very slow traffic queue almost back to Amersham at one point according to Google maps. The traffic on the A 413 is often asymmetric - heavier in one direction than the other. By 9.20 the traffic from Amersham has usually thinned out considerably, so it would have helped enormously if the crew doing the work could have deliberately allowed southbound traffic to go through for longer than the northbound traffic from time to time to run the queue down and speed up everyone’s journey.
