Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1810236.
Several large potholes down to the substrate along Candlemas Lane They have been there for several weeks
Why did you send people out to fix one large hole recently at the junction of Candlemas lane and Candlemas Mead and not bother to fix the other very visible holes a few metres up the road ? Get these fixed please

I drove along Candlemas Lane about 7.45pm on Thurs 17 Oct and due to the poor street lighting did not see the deep pothole reported by others outside no 47. My offside front wheel went into the pothole and was severely hit. Shortly after, my tyre blew out on the M40 heading into London and I had to call the AA to help replace the wheel with my emergency spare. The tyre had to be relaced

"we work on a priority based risk matrix" - what on earth does that mean? An Excel spreadsheet where you keep track of how many insurance claims you've had from road users? I know your current backlog is 600+ cases and 26 weeks+ waiting time. Perhaps you'd spend less on road repairs and claims if you had a system where you (a) arrive at reported location, unload equipment and set up traffic control etc (b) fix reported pothole (c) FIX ANY OTHER HOLES WITHIN A 5 METRE RADIUS (d) remove equipment traffic control etc and leave. I'd estimate stage (c) would add maybe 10% to the total time spent. Then you wouldn't have to revisit the site to fix the next hole eg. the growing pothole in the centre of the road you didn't repair opposite the NTFS in Beaconsfield, even though your workers repaired one a couple of metres away. We don't report these holes as a hobby - taking a photo etc is actually time-consuming and dangerous in some locations. So please consider improving your procedures, especially when an accident has been caused by a road defect.
