Complete darkness on main road
Reported via iOS in the Street light not working category by Katherine Findlay at 20:02, Thu 24 October 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1818445.
Hello again and welcome to the second year of this ongoing problem. This stretch of road - a main road near a station, scout hut, nursery and pub - only has street lights on one side. But they aren’t working. I feel vulnerable walking along here as a lone woman. School children use this route, as do parents with buggies who often have to move into the road due to cars parking on the pavement. The pavement is very uneven due to tree roots and this presents a huge trip hazard in the complete darkness. The council would presumably be liable if someone was injured. All you need to do is fix the two lights. I will be making contact every week until it is sorted as it is a public safety issue.

This is the stretch of pavement at 6.30pm. The sun is setting earlier and earlier, and you have been aware of this issue for over a year. As a woman I feel unsafe walking here in complete darkness as anyone could be lurking. I should not feel this way about a pavement alongside an A road. Will it take an incident for action to be taken? Just turning one of the two unlit lights on would help. Please note the light further down is car headlights. The traffic is much less frequent after commuter time and so the road would be pitch black.
