Blocked drain - O/S Bassetsbury Mill
Reported in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 09:45, Mon 16 December 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1890123.
Drain in verge on carriageway heading towards London Road, outside Bassetsbury Mill. Drain badly blocked. 10 years ago root ingress into the pipe, leading away from the road drain, needed cutting away. To quote the BCC Road Technician who carried out a CCTV pipe survey: "The roots form a curtain which the jetter pushes past but does not clear away the roots. Leaves and other debris soon build up a new barrier to effective water flow". After BCC used a specialist root cutter the problem was resolved. Whilst acknowledging that the drain's sump does need clearing, the large expanse of water which remains for up to a day after heavy rain seems to indicate that the roots need cutting away again. Please will you investigate if there are root which need cutting out of the pipe.
