19 Newfield Rd, Marlow, England
Reported in the Snow and ice problem/winter salting category anonymously at 14:56, Sun 29 December 2019
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1908893.
On December 4th my daughter was walking on her way to school when she came from the alleyway to Foxes Piece and 19 Newfield road and slipped on ice which furthermore resulted in her having a cracked screen on her laptop, as she is required to bring one every day from her schools new online device system.
Additionally, another women fell before her due to the slippery pavement and a pupil from Great Marlow school as well. They can all confirm this. This incident could of been prevented as the road should of been gritted particularly next to a primary school with young children causing a potential danger to them. Fortunately, she was not hurt massively, however her computer was damaged and requires fixing.
If plausible we would appreciate if we could receive a small amount of compensation for the lack of attentiveness on icy roads especially near a primary school.

Thank you for your enquiry.
Winter service is an important part of Transport for Buckinghamshire’s (TfB) maintenance work, involving the precautionary salting of major roads, reactive snow clearing and salting and also reacting to other weather related emergencies. The routes have all been agreed prior to the start of winter, any requests for new roads will be investigated after the 2018/2019 per period.
Salting is required due to low temperatures, TfB has set gritting routes that they cover each time treatment is required. Whilst we unfortunately can’t salt every single road in the county, we do cover over 44% of the county’s road network, a figure well above the national average. Footways are not routinely salted but may be cleared and treated when resources allow, after snowfall.
Most precautionary salting will be carried out during the evening or overnight. For information on how we decide which roads to salt and when, visit our web page here: https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/ services/ transport-and-roads/ road-maintenance-and-repairs/ how-we-decide-when-to-grit-the-roads/
Salt bins are provided at various locations throughout the county which we encourage drivers and pedestrians to use to treat localised icy conditions if necessary. The salt within such bins is for use on publicly accessible areas only. For more information about the restocking of salt, new salt bins or to report damaged or empty salt bins, visit our web page here: https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/ services/ transport-and-roads/ road-safety/ salt-bins/Posted by Buckinghamshire Council at 15:00, Sun 29 December 2019
