Below railway bridge at Cheddington Rd, Pitstone
Reported in the Ditch issue category anonymously at 19:35, Thu 16 January 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1943308.
Whenever we get heavy rain the Rd beneath the railway bridge on Cheddington Rd Nr Pitstone floods. With more heavy rain overnight then tomorrow the Rd will not be passable except by 4x4 type vehicles. This forces traffic to travel along the alternate Rd parallel with the railway track. At the end traffic has to turn very sharp left onto the opposite side of the Rd at the blind brow of the bridge at the Pitstone to Marsworth Rd. There will be a head on accident at this junction soon. The drainage at the flooded area constantly blocks and needs drastic action to improve it to stop it continually flooding whenever it rains. It should be noted that in addition to the water run off from roads going to the area a large proportion of the water comes down through the bridge from the railway above.

I’ve just spoken with Steven at Bucks Highways. This above report was compiled by me but I’m not getting any e mail updates on it.
Steven, you say unblocking the drains won’t solve the problem. If the surround water tables levels fall and the drains are blocked it won’t drain away will it ?
Why not try and unblock the drains ? If there’s no change then we have to wait for surrounding water levels to drop. If the drains get cleared the water will drain away into the gulley and the road can be reopened.
The diversion causes a serious issue by forcing traffic onto the opposite side of the ride at the brow of the railway bridge at the Marsworth Rd. One accident has already scoured at this junction. There will be a very serious accident soon.
