Going up the hill on the left hand side two short rows of curb stones.
Reported in the Kerb damage / issue category anonymously at 11:29, Thu 30 July 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2223298.
At about 175 m up Kop Hill Road there is a "pinch point'. Traffic coming down the hill may not necessarily be aware that the road suddenly narrows. forcing up coming traffic into the curb. I saw no road signs warning or the road narrowing. The majority of the road has no curb. However, at this narrowing section there are two short sections of curb stones where the roadside adjoins two driveways. The second set of curb stones ( going up the hill) are particularly raised from the rest of the road. These curbstones are particularly rough in texture. My guess is they are grey granite curb stones. On 29th July 2020 because Brimmer Road was closed the diversion took me up Kop Hill Road. I was forced into the curb by a 4x4 vehicle coming down the hill that did not slow on approaching the pinch point. I appreciate because of the road diversion there may well have been other traffic users who were unfamiliar with the road. The consequence of being forced into the curb meant i hit these "granite" curb stones at about 30mph. The impact of hitting these stones caused the two nearside tyres to blow and damaged the front wheel alloy. Along with the tyres the alloy needs replacing. the cost of this repair is estimated to be over six hundred pounds.Volvo assistance who came to recover the car took a number of photos of the damage. I also ascertained that i am not the first driver whose car has suffered damage as a result of being forced into the curb and hitting these stones. I was also informed that this matter has been reported before, but no remedial work to the curb has been forthcoming. I write this report not for the purpose of seeking compensation, unless you feel that is appropriate but merely to stop another poor unfortunate driver suffer a similar experience. Could road narrowing signage for vehicles coming down the hill been considered to stop a more serious incident/ accident from happening. road narrowing
