The pavement outside 50 Amersham Hill Drive
Reported in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 14:09, Wed 23 September 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2308495.
Hi, I have already reported this problem once but apart from the pothole repair the rest of the report was not followed up on. The gentleman that came out to inspect the defect told me that he was not an expert and the person who deals with this kind of problem was on holiday at the time. The entire pavement has failed from the middle as shown in the pics and the storm drain is blocked and the resulting land movement has caused subsidence to our retaining wall which is now dangerously leaning into our front garden. I am assuming the pavement has services running under the surface so it is not a case of we just carrying out repairs to our retaining wall. The root cause of the pavement failure needs to be addressed and the repairs to the pavement and the retaining wall will need to be carried out simultaneously and in a controlled manner. As the retaining wall has been impacted by the pavement failure the cost of the repair lies with the responsible organisation of the pavement. Please give this matter your urgent attention. Some parents allow their small children to walk on the wall on the way home from school not realising the dangerous condition of the wall. Many Thanks for you help
Kind Regards

Thank you for your last update informing us that this has now been added to your programme of works. The Gentleman who came out to inspect the issue was shown the impact the failure of the pavement has had on our retaining wall which is now severely leaning into our front garden. I asked him if the wall will also be fixed at the same time as the pavement. He was unable to give me an answer but said he would report the matter along with the report on the pavement. Please note just fixing the pavement will not solve the problem as the wall will eventually collapse and the pavement will collapse with it. Both the wall and the pavement have to be fixed together. Please contact me if you need to discuss this matter further. Thanks
