Drains blocked at frontage of number 15 SwallowLane and opposite number 3 Swallow Lane.
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 15:15, Sat 24 October 2020
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2355514.
The two drains identified are still blocked despite being reported in February this year. The water collects and then backs up across number 11 Swallow Lane and eventually onto my property, 7 Swallow Lane, which is the low point of the road.
During the very heavy rain on the weekend of 3 October the surface water from this blockage inundated my property ( we were away at the time) and resulted in 3 feet of water in my cellar. On our return from a short break on 7 October we discovered the flooded cellar and had to call the fire brigade to pump it out. We have since been without heating as our boiler was located in the cellar and has had to be scrapped.
We are currently dealing with our insurance company but I am also considering taking legal action against the Council for not dealing with this issue first reported some 8 months ago..
To date I have not had any updates from the initial February report to say any remedial work has been carried out. This is totally unacceptable.

Following heavy rain again today the end of Swallow Lane, opposite numbers 3 and 11 has flooded due to the drains in the road being blocked. The rain is backing up across the front of Swallow Cottage and flooding my property at number 7. I have had to use a pump today to stop water getting into my property. This situation has being going on for 12 months with repeated reports made on this website, all to no avail and totally unacceptable.
When will this issue be sorted? I have already had to make one insurance claim for flooding of my property due to the incompetence of Bucks Highways who I hold liable for consequential damage to my property.
I have also reported this ongoing saga to Councillor Naylor (Highways) and my local Councillor in the hope of some intervention.
I have several questions that need an answer 1.When will this issue be resolved by fixing the blocked drains? 2. Why do I pay £2800 per annum in Council Tax and get zero response from the Council? 3. Why should I, in my 70th year, have to go out in freezing wet conditions to protect my property from flooding caused by the Council’s inability to maintain it’s highway drainage? 4. Why does the Council hide behind this Fix My Street reporting system rather than getting a human being to make contact to resolve an issue 12 months old and reported many times by myself and neighbours all of which seem to have gone into an administrative black hole.
