Dear Sir/Madam, Regarding: Blocked drain (rainwater gully) located at on the road side of 14 Bowedean Road, HP13 6AX (next to the street sign). The above rainwater gully caters to the rainwater running from the Bowerdean road (down the hill) and also from the side road situated at the island (near the Carrot & Coriander Vegetable shop). With rainfall, there is great amount of water rushing from two sides (hills) of the roads and getting accumulated around this gully. However, because there is only one gully, that too remains blocked round the year, is unable to cope with the amount of accumulated rainwater at this junction. This is causing a number of issues:

1. The rainwater from the road instead of passing through the drainage system is being absorbed by the land of the adjacent property (14 Bowerdean Road). The seepage of water has lead to high saturation of land around causing high level of humidity in the home and further potential damage to the property like damps. This poses grave health issues. The plaster of the boundary wall is also damaged and the paint discoloured. . 2. When the water gets accumulated during & after the rainfall because of the blocked and insufficient drainage system, it creates a pool of water around the gully. The passing traffic on this busy road sprays the boundary wall and the passer-by - especially the vulnerable like people pushing buggies, school children and senior citizens get drenched by the spray.

3. The road near the gully is in a very bad state causing danger to users like cyclist, scooters, Electric Zipps and motor cyclists. May I request you to get the issues assessed by the competent authority and mitigate the problem. Thanks.

Kind Regards, Zaya
