Lethal road surface, neglected since at least 2016
Reported via desktop in the Road surface category anonymously at 12:03, Mon 18 January 2021
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2485321.
The surface of this road has long been lethal. Its chippings have flaked off in long strips, exposing underlying asphalt that is lethally smooth. The pot-holes are not deep but they are linear, with great potential to cause a vehicle to lose control.
Since 2016 at least 13 reports have been submitted about parts or all of this road. In December 2016 a user reported "There is no surface left on this road". In April 2018 another user reported "Road surface failing". But this road was decrepit long before either of those reports was submitted.
Just over a mile of road needs resurfacing: all the way between the T-junction for Arncott and Murcott at grid reference SP60331497 to the T-junction for Boarstall and Horton-cum-Studley at SP61521399.
But the most dangerous section is about 400 yards long, between the junction at SP61521399 to the bottom of the hill at SP61181431. This is because (1) it is on a gradient and (2) a few yards of the southbound side of the road going uphill has a defective camber, as if it has subsided.
The speed limit throughout this road is 60 mph. When it is wet I do not feel safe on it at 30 mph. Does this road need to kill someone before Bucks County Council finally resurfaces it?
