Junction of Cock Lane and junction of Abbey Barn with London Road, Wycombe Marsh

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights & crossings problems with timings category by Tony Grange at 13:53, Saturday 20 February 2021

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

There was a period of a couple of weeks, in November 2020 I think, when the lights at both junctions seemed to work well resulting in less congestion in all directions (excepting the Micklefield Rd. junction which remained a bottle-neck) and overall reduced journey times in the area. It was apparent that the lights had been adjusted to take account of traffic flow, changing when the junctions were clear. Priority was given to the London Rd, of course, reverting to a timed sequence in busy times. Queues of traffic waiting to join the London Rd. from Cock Lane were eliminated. This all changed again when a man appeared at the Abbey Barn junction, tinkering with the lights control box on the corner. Since then, the journey times have increased; I can sit waiting at Abbey Barn when there is no traffic on the London Road, the lights crossing button has not been pressed and then to see them Cock Lane filter light come on, well..... I know we were in lock-down in November but the situation has not improved in this one. Is it too difficult to control the sequencing using cameras, or are cameras there but not working correctly? Sequencing has been a problem ever since the lights went in years ago and I note that comments have been made about this in the past but it seems nothing has really been resolved.
