Manhole in middle of road, at junction between Chestnut Lane and Hollybush Lane
Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 08:52, Thu 17 June 2021
Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2797675.
Although Chestnut Lane was resurfaced in recent years, the patches surrounding the majority of manholes have been failing during the last 6 months - this problem can be seen along the entire length of Chestnut Lane from Parkfield Avenue to New Road. They all take a similar pattern to the one illustrated in the photos attached and for which the precise location is given: failure of the tarmacadam square around the manhole - leaving the manhole proud of the substrate by as much as 1-2 inches in places. They are particularly dangerous for the many cyclists (including primary school children) who use the road. The manhole by the end of Hollybush Lane is one of the worst affected in terms of its depth, and it is also particularly difficult for vehicles turning at the junction to avoid. When drivers do seek to avoid it, it can result in bizarre (and therefore potentially hazardous) road positioning.
