Station Road, between Wattleton & Grove Roads
Reported via mobile in the Road surface category by Mr Andrew Gallagher at 10:24, Sunday 20 June 2021
Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later
Bucks Council, in their infinite wisdom, have removed half a busy road and repurposed it as a footpath. This has caused considerable and unnecessary upset to road users.
30 minutes of monitoring and videoing this section of highway, at midday on Saturday 19th June, revealed that many hundreds of road users were badly affected whilst ZERO pedestrians even used the temporary 'footpath'. Further, the arranged traffic lights cause traffic to be more densely packed and make it considerably more difficult for pedestrians to cross the road.
Anyone would think Bucks Council were deliberately annoying road users as they regularly sanction these sort of unnecessary impediments to traffic flow. Please can Bucks Council engage a little common sense, be more considerate to those who pay their wages, and remove these obstructions, post haste.

Unfortunately, the response Rob Mayman wrote back to me was not sent to me, instead I had to call Bucks Council and have them email his response to me. I have spoken to the site workmen and they have confirmed to me that Rob Mayman would NOT allow works to be carried out on Sunday 20/6 and would only allow 3hours of works to be carried out on Saturday 19th. Why would Rob Mayman direct them this way? 1) According to what the workmen told me, it takes sometime to organise before starting each day's works, if the day lasts just 3 hours there is not much work that can be done. 2) there is considerably less traffic over the weekend. This means far fewer annoyed motorists. 3) there is no school. This means far fewer pedestrians. Once again, "Anyone would think Bucks Council were deliberately annoying road users as they regularly sanction these sort of unnecessary impediments to traffic flow. Please can Bucks Council engage a little common sense, be more considerate to those who pay their wages, and remove these obstructions, post haste"
