Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights problem at temporary roadworks category anonymously at 20:18, Friday 17 September 2021
Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later
For the last two weeks the roadworks on main Amersham/ Chesham road has caused cars to turn into Clifton road and race at high speeds 50mph plus to get to other end before lights change. These speeds are far too high through a residential area with multiple driveways who don’t have a clear line of sight into road until they have pointed out their bonnets. Children also walk here due to the close proximity of two schools. An old couple walk in the road to avoid crumbled pavement issues. Every day I witness a near accident either as cars are emerging from driveways (they get a loud horn blast if lucky) . The two bends cause near misses due to excessive speed in approach. I walk the length of this road twice daily and it’s really quite scarey and it’s getting worse as more people discover the cut through. Please don’t wait for a child to be hit at 55mph. Temporary signs? Temporary bollards? Relocate those speed signs?
