New Build Site

Reported via desktop in the Bollards or railings category anonymously at 14:01, Monday 25 October 2021

Received by Buckinghamshire Council moments later

As a local resident, I would like to know, in writing please, why the residents surrounding East Common in Gerrards Cross are being subjected to a completely unjustified closure of East Common, just to appease the wishes of a builder.

The road is scheduled to be closed from June to late December and I consider this to be a flagrant violation of the local people’s rights and others in their normal travels within the area.

The time and fuel wastage caused by this road closure is colossal, let alone the danger created by the extra delays caused to emergency services trying to protect the community in the fastest possible response times.

The situation is completely unacceptable for a private project to be allowed to cause so much disruption to the local community. If the project could not have been completed within the bounds of it's dedicated land area, it should never have been allowed to proceed. After all the property next door to the new development was completed with minimal disruption to the local community. The way in which this development has been allowed to be built, too close to the road, makes it a hideous carbuncle on a once attractive road, is a travesty.

Many residents feel the structure should be pulled down and replaced by a building more in keeping with the neighbourhood and may well be prepared to take the matter much further.

To add insult to injury the works seem to have a lack of continuity, with many days of non-working, extending the disruption unnecessarily.

There are also rumours that the builder may well be paying a fee for the privilege of closing the road. If so, why isn't this compensating the many hundreds of people affected by this complete travesty of building control.

Your thoughts on this completely unacceptable situation would be much appreciated and I look forward to your response at your earliest convenience.

Yours sincerely Robert Barugh Local resident
