Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3519422.
Previous report was closed without explanation. This surface is dangerous as cars are overtaking cyclist forced to slow due to uneven road surface. Overtaking manoeuvres are at excessive speed into bend with poor visibility. This has happened twice in two days. The surface has been deteriorated for some time forcing cyclists to take extreme care to avoid the hole at the drain location and long stretch of uneven surface. This is significantly worse after the ‘making good’ of the Swish fibre trench. This is particularly an issue due to the steep downhill incline. The surface may technically meet the inspection standard but considering the incline this does not mean it is safe - especially as cyclists are forced to slow and drivers take chances to overtake rather than being slowed for a moment behind a cyclist. I would also note that the defect depth for road carriageway at 40mm is inconsistent with that for cycle paths at 20mm. Cyclists using the road have the same surface requirements for cycling - however a road carriageway is a more vulnerable environment for cyclists. Why then is it ok for a cyclist on a road carriageway to have to navigate a surface considered unacceptable for a cycle path? Until this is actioned I am seriously considering not cycling on this section of road due to the heightened risk it presents.
