Blocked drain causing flooding on pedestrian crossing
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain category by Gerry Robinson at 19:43, Fri 20 May 2022

After. during rainfall, the pedestrian crossing is flooded due to this drain on the Eat side being blocked. With no option but to paddle through the massive puddle, children get to school with very wet feet. I have raised the flooding issue on the parade of shops side of the roundabout before and the report has been cleared as you told me that BC had plans for work on New Road, This drain has been blocked for over a year, and no signs of any work yet ! Can you at least check and clear all the drains on this roundabout without any more delay ?

Thank you for your report regarding a drainage issue, which has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.
We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.
The Local Area Technician will carry out an inspection within 10 days and order a repair if required.
IMPORTANT: If you consider this to be dangerous or an emergency, please call us on 0300 131 6000
Otherwise, by submitting the report online we will deal with it in line with our agreed timescales.Regards
