Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain category anonymously at 16:39, Thursday 24 November 2022

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council less than a minute later

A number of blocked drains on Market Place infront of shops on highway. This exacerbates flooding & run off onto footpath & into shop frontages. Worst one infront of Carpet shop number 14 SL9 9EA. Village centre suffers badly from flooding at bottom of hill. Thanks

Updates

  • This has been passed to the Local Area Technician to investigate.

We know that an important part of any road network is the drainage system which is designed to carry water away from the road surface. Even when a gully is clean and well maintained it will only cope with a certain volume of water at one time, a sudden and heavy downpour can still cause flooding especially if the road is in a low lying area.

  • Update

We operate an annual gully cleansing programme, and our assessment has concluded that the issue reported will be resolved as part of this programme, should the team carrying out the clearance find any other issues these will be looked into and prioritised for a solution.

Please be assured, we will continue to monitor the area in line with our Highways Safety Inspection Policy.
