Every school day, without fail, parents are parking all the way up the road to the corner of John Fitzjohn Avenue (which then causes huge problems on Paradise Orchard too). They park on grass verges, across the double yellows lines, over the school zig zag areas, I have seen people do three point turns causing even more traffic issues and there is never a traffic warden to move them or a school representative looking after the welfare of pedestrians or school kids. Parents are also parking on actual corners, blocking people turning, causing more issues. It’s obviously worse on cold and rainy morning and is becoming a dangerous threat to safety. People are crossing behind cars while other cars are trying to come around the corner, it’s getting worse. There have been many near misses with children, a few weeks back there was a big car accident. Have also seen parents stop their car in the middle of the road, kids then get out of the car which is very risky, but it’s because other parents are.parking in the no parking zones, causing traffic problems. When I took some pictures, some parents abused me, saying I have nothing better to do, but I’m sorry, these people really don’t care about anything else but themselves. I’m trying to protect kids, but they are breaking the law and causing so many issues. I have a son attend the school, who is 12, and I feel like I have to walk him due to these issues, which is crazy. There is so much parking a little down from the school, but maybe a 5 minute walk, which people do use, but more need to. Something needs to be done as soon as possible, please. I have so many pictures, it’s not a one off or just drop off and go. People park where they aren’t supposed to, leave their cars, take the kids in and think is ok. Someone is going to be seriously injured as the crash a few weeks back proved. I note that a post was made earlier this year, but was anything actually done? Can a parking warden be assigned to deal with this asap?
This has been passed to the Parking Services Team.
Subject to available resources, a civil enforcement officer (traffic warden) will go and assess, and if a vehicle is parked in contravention of a parking restriction, a penalty charge notice may be issued.
